Today Is The Day...

Have you ever said to yourself…Today is the day I will... (fill in the blank) ? You feel energized and ready to tackle the project or even that exercise program you have been putting off. You are motivated, thinking positive and feelling good. You are in a great mood, feeling passion about what's ahead and the choices you are making.

We are in control of our own lives. The sooner we believe and accept that, the better off we will be. We women are so busy nurturing, motivating and taking care of others, that we sometimes lose ourselves in the process. Then one day you wake up and say...this is the day... I AM going to accomplish what I have been putting off. I am going to do something for ME.

But, something happens along the way…after a few days (for some, maybe longer), we lose our motivation. We fade back into the old routine and eventually stop with the project(s) we started.

Enthusiasm is what gets us started and motivation will help us to achieve our goals. In the beginning we are willing to pursue our goal, but then our life, family, work may make demands that keep us from continuing. Throw in not feeling good or tired, new responsibilities and for sure we won't feel the same enthusiasm as we did at the start.

How can we rekindle the spark that we felt on the day we said… Today is the day?

Have a very clear picture of what we want to obtain or where we want to be in say 3, 6 months. Evaluate your progress. Stick to a routine, so progress becomes automatic. If it's the routine that bores you, change it up, but make sure you give yourself X amount of time dedicated to your goal.

If you allow your motivation to dwindle then it wasn't true motivation to begin with right? Just a temporary feeling. So you need to really believe in what you want to achieve. Remember the rewards or benefits you will reap when you reach your goal. Enjoy what you are doing, get excited

If you have a setback, don't worry...get back up in the saddle and start again. Don't allow negative feelings or thoughts keep you from feeling that motivation again. Motivation may come and go, but it will return. Don't give up.

First of all, you and I share a lot of the same beliefs....You seem like a wonderful woman.

As for your post here, my theory is, you do a little at a time. So many times, I tell myself that I'm going to tackle this project, or that one, on a Saturday. But, if the weather is nice, or if I get a call from my girlfriend to meet for lunch, I jump all over the other things, and neglect the original project. So now, I do just a little every day. That way, I always feel as though I've accomplished something!
