Reduce Stress With Stretching

I think we all experience stress at some point during our work week and sitting at your desk all day puts an added strain on your bones, joints and muscles. I can feel the stress in my back, shoulders and neck. Even my hands are affected from typing on the computer all day.

Stretching can relieve tension and keep you alert. My ‘down’ time is between 2-3pm, so a little stretching or taking a short walk helps me get through the rest of the day.

Shrugging your shoulders releases the tension felt in your neck and shoulders. As you inhale, lift your shoulders towards your ears. Hold for a few seconds, exhale and bring your shoulders down.

Give yourself a hug. Hugging your body will reduce the stress felt in your back and shoulders.

Instead of emailing or calling a co-worker, take a walk over to their desk. If your path includes the stairs, that’s even better.

If you do this every hour, you will feel a difference.

Great advice! I am not only a Life Coach but a yoga instructor. Stretching is a marvelous thing to do as well as getting up out of that chair and walking around!
