Do You Have a Collectible and Memorabilia Hobby?

Do you have a love for collectibles and/or memorabilia?

I have a few collectibles that I add to on an occasional basis. My collection of angels, wild cats and carousel horses are becoming quite big. When ever I am out and about, I'll pick up an item or the people in my life knowing I collect certain items, will pick one up for me.

This can be a favorite hobby for some or it can even turn into a career. I started collecting carousel horses as a kid. My favorite ride on the boardwalk at the shore was...you guessed it...the carousel. I loved the painted horses...the music.
My collection of angels stemmed from an experience that made my belief grow stronger. My tigers and lions are just a pleasure to see. Those animals are beautiful.

If you have a collection, what made you start? Are they for decorative purposes or do you have a personal reason for the theme which your collection revolves around? I know some collect for the monetary value. Collectibles and memorabilia have become big business. There are an abundance of marketers that offer many items. To make your buying experience easier and have product information, price comparisons and user reviews all in once place and at your fingertips, the best resource will probably be www.shopwiki.com. It won't be necessary for you to go through page after page.

Collectives and memorabilia make great gifts. There a literally thousands of items people collect. Sport items, TV and movie memorabilia, childhood toys, rocks, coins and stamps, Elvis memorabilia, decorative items, cards and the list can go on and on. If you know someone that has a passion for a certain item, why not pick them up an item. I am sure they would love that you took the time to add a keepsake to their collection.

A Surprise In The Mail

My niece/goddaughter is a year and half and she is just a delight. She has brought new life to the family.

Of course my brother and sister-in-law constantly take pictures of her (how can you resist!) and try to share them with us when ever possible.

Today I received a wonderful surprise in the mail. My sister in law had gotten custom Photo Cards made and sent them to the family (and her friends)...'just because'.

What a great idea! I know my other family members were probably just as happy about receiving this surprise in the mail as I was. It sure brought a smile to my face.

I called my sister in law and she said she went to cardsdirect.com and easily ordered the customs cards. I went to the site because it got me thinking how I could use this photo card for business and use my logo or business card on the front. I was impressed at the quality of the card.

I don't have a way to show you what my card looked like, but here's the card. I took this off their site..of course mine had my niece on it. This card is sure to be a keepsake.

Cardsdirect.com offers a huge assortment of cards and photo cards to choose from:
Business Greeting Cards, Anniversary Cards,Birthday Cards, Congratulations Cards,Get Well Cards,Sympathy Cards,Thank You Cards,Thinking of You Cards Welcome Cards,Assortment Packs,All Occasion Cards,Photo & Custom Cards, Custom Greeting Cards,Photo Calendar Cards,Photo Holder Cards and Holiday Cards.

You don't pay for personalization or the custom verses and shipping is a flat $5.00. I think it's a good deal.

Next time you are sending special or holiday cards, you might want to surprise someone with a photo card and bring a smile to someones face...

Shopping for My Gift

My son's Mother's Day gift to me was a gift of my choice. He wasn't sure what I wanted or needed, so he said that since I have been doing alot of online shopping while I have been home, to buy something I wanted.

Soooo, going straight to ShopWiki.com, I knew I would find something I wanted, plus find a good deal. By the way, if you are not familiar with ShopWiki, this site shows you ALL the best stores and their
online shopping directory lists all the categories, offering the best deals. You can also view products by the wiki guides: by occasion, by holiday or recipient.

You're probably aware of those online shopping sites that when you search for an item they give you a result listing of some stores. Those stores probably have paid for advertisement, but ShopWiki shows you every store on the web. That makes a big difference when you're shopping for the best price.

Anyway, I'm planning to have a Forth of July party, so I want to buy a volleyball set, so my family and friends can participate in an activity and have some fun together. I found numerous listings and only spent $24.99 (s/h was only 5 bucks), so I can buy some more!

Now to buy something for only me...I always wanted a hammock to relax on lazy summer days and catch some sun. To my surprise, the listings in
Home & Garden showed me a deal I couldn't pass up. I was alittle concerned about the shipping costs, but for $10, I'm finally going to have a hammock.

ahhhh...can't wait! Thanks to ShopWiki and my son, I'm going to enjoy my gifts for sure.

For The Girls in My Circle

I have found while I have been sick, my friends have really been here for me. I never thought they wouldn't be, but honestly, the support...the caring...the way they haven't forgotten me as I am home and not able to see them, has been more than I ever expected. It is a wonderful feeling to be cared about and they are and have really helped me get through this episode.

They even got together and presented me with the most perfect gift. It was overwhelming and brought tears to my eyes.

I have been out of work going on two months, so my friends came up with a way to help. Their generosity, thoughtfullness and caring ways will buy groceries or other items needed for the rest of the month. Just overwhelming and I am so Thankful...

So For The Girls In My Circle (including my Internet Friends)...this is for you...

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend,
And then I started to become a woman.

And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,
God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom.

Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.

One friend will say, "Let's cry together,"
Another , "Let's fight together,"
Another , "Let's walk away together."

One friend will meet your spiritual need,
Another your shoe fetish,
Another your love for movies,
Another will be with you in your season of confusion,
Another will be your clarifier,
Another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life,
On whatever the occasion,
On whatever the day,
Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back,
Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself ..
Those are your best friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman,
But for many, it's wrapped up in several..
One from 7th grade,
One from high school,
Several from the college years,
a couple from old jobs,
On some days your mother,
On some days your neighbor,
On others, your sisters,
Maybe some days your Internet Friends
And on some days, your daughters.

So whether you've been my friend for 20 minutes or 20 years,
God has placed you in my life to make a difference...AND YOU HAVE !

For The Men: A Valentine's Gift Hint

It seems Valentine’s Day is on everyone’s mind right now. At work I’ve over heard the men asking each other…what are you buying your wife? and the women saying, I wonder what my husband/boyfriend is giving me.

If I can stick my two cents in….I loved receiving the strand of pearls my (former) husband had bought me. Pearls are classic and timeless. I still get compliments when I wear them.

Over at Amazing Pearl you can receive a deep discount and they are now running a 10% off special just for Valentine's Day.

There are many types of pearls: freshwater, cultured and akoya.

Akoya Cultured pearls are the most sought after because of their luster and nearly perfect round shape. This makes it easy to match if buying a necklace and want bracelets and earrings to go with it. Usually white or cream colored, but you can find them with a hue of rose or silver.
They are cultured in the Pinctada fucata martensii, also known as the akoya oyster.
Amazing Pearl buys directly from the most reliable pearl farm in China.

Freshwater pearls seem to be more affordable and range in color: white, black, pink and lavender. A necklace can cost from $65 - $96. Amazing Pearl offers matching bracelets and earrings as well.

If you make a purchase at Amazing Pearl, you will receive free US priority shipping, the best value, high AAA and AA+ quality, free appraisal that comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and an elegant gift box for presentation.

Whether you may consider a gift of pearls for Valentine's Day or another special occasion, be sure the woman in your life will appreciate it.

You can learn more pearl facts here.

What was the best Valentine's Day Gift you received?

Corporate and Hostess Gift Ideas

Looking for Gourmet Gifts this Holiday season? I think I finally came up with the best idea for gifts for my associates and co-workers. I was having trouble coming up with the perfect solution.

Now that I found Delightful Deliveries, I not only found delicious gifts for my
business associates, but also for hostess gifts. When invited to a holiday party, I wanted to come up with something different this year. I didn't want to bring the usual candle or knick knack. Gift baskets that include gourmet foods, cookies and wine is a much better choice.

Delightful Deliveries also provides free shipping, so I not only save time by ordering online, I save money too.

I came across a press release that states Delightful Delivers was named one of the Hot 100 Websites by a leading Industry magazine, so I feel secure in getting great products and complete satisfaction. See Below:

I'm Loving Myself

Letter S SMALL pic

Many posts on this blog refer to females and how wonderful it is to be a woman.

I have mentioned self-esteem, the many ways we, as women are successful in both our personal and/or business life. I have spoken about our strength, our confidence, how we should and can stand on our own two feet by being educated, plus an array of other topics.

I just stumbled upon a site that promotes woman. Females can now make an expressive statement about who you love... "I'm Loving Myself" ... isn't that a wonderful statement? I love it!

Well, now you can make a statement by wearing your expression of loving yourself. Are you a successful business woman, recently graduated school, or simply loving yourself for who you are or goals you have accomplished?

Wear your own tee designed by Doheny Designs. This is a great way to remind yourself each time you put this shirt on.

More woman should love themselves. For the goals we accomplish, for the way we care and nurture others. I'm Loving myself is a great thing to tell yourself each and every day. Be accepting of who we are. No one is perfect and we all need to accept ourselves, flaws and all.

Show it to the world for all to see...Feel the pride of being a woman and all that we have to offer.

My friend who had second thoughts about going back to school, recently graduated and I now know exactly what I'm getting her for Christmas. A "I'm loving myself" tee especially for her because she should be so proud of herself and loving herself for her achievment.

Brought to you by Doheny Designs

Save When Shopping Online

I recently posted about shopping online and using online coupons. Below is one comment received:

From anonymous boxer~
Hello.... I'm here from Beth's "community". I am a huge online shopper and take pride in how much I can get done with a few clicks of the mouse. I DIDN'T know of these online coupons.

Well, with the holidays approaching, I thought I'd write another post letting you in on a site that will save you money using online coupons.

In my town here in New Jersey, you can't even go into a store without already seeing Christmas decorations or related items for sale. It's not even Halloween yet! I must admit that I've already started my shopping (I'm almost done) and saved myself some money (and time) using these coupons.

At couponchief.com you will find up to date coupon codes and all the resources necessary to save yourself money and time. Just think how you won't be standing in long lines, surrounded by cranky shoppers. This will allow you to do what you want, when everyone else is sitting in traffic and spending hours looking for the best deal or sale to save money.

There are literally hundreds of stores at couponchief to choose from. Are you looking for electronics? Try Best Buy. Their coupons range from 5-20% off to $50 off selected digital cameras. If you're looking for a variety of items and one stop shopping, I always shop at Target. I can get anything from books, pet supplies, clothes, CD/DVD's, linens, toys, food or bath and beauty products. The coupons they offer range from offers of up to 15% off to $5 off a purchase of $50 or even free shipping.

Happy Shopping!

Do You Buy Online?

I love to shop and when I find a coupon that saves me money, I am even more thrilled. I have been doing a lot of buying online since there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to physically go to the store.

My son's birthday is coming up and I found a site that offers Coupon Codes to a large number of stores.
I was surprised to see that the coupons offered were to many stores I am already familiar with. The site is updated daily, so I know I am getting the most current offers.

I wanted to shop for some fleece and thermals for the cold months coming up. He works outside, so he'll appreciate these. At Kohl's, I found everything I was looking for and the coupons offered varied from 10 to 15% off to saving if you use your Kohl's charge or free shipping on every item in the men's wardrobe catalog.

I feel good knowing I saved money and it only took about 10 minutes of my time to do it. Now I only have to wait for the package to arrive, wrap the gifts and I'm done. Can't get any easier then that.

Gifts For Him

It's that time of year when we begin searching for that perfect holiday gift for the people in our lives.

I, myself take time to really find something suitable for everyone on my list. I usually find myself spending a little extra time trying to find the best gifts for him, the special guy who I've been spending time with.

Although I don't want to go over the top with something too personal, I think my best bet would be getting something he can use around the house. What guy doesn't like power tools or something he can use in the 'sacred garage'.

He's always complaining that he doesn't have enough storage for his tools, so maybe a 3 drawer tool box he can keep in the garage would be a hit. And because he's such a fanatic about water spots on his car and motorcycle, I found this compact car and motorcycle dryer that might bring a smile to his face.

What kind of gifts do you buy the man in your life?

The Spirit of Christmas

I found this waiting for me one night upon arriving home.
Santa's Community Blog presented me with the Spirit of Christmas award. Truly a great present. Thank you SO much!

What is the Spirit of Christmas you ask?

Quite simply it is those that have a generous and giving nature. Those who care about others. Those who have a kind word to say or a broad shoulder to lean on in the times that others need that. Those who display the "Spirit of Christmas".

The true holiday spirit is about love, kindness, peace and goodwill to all. Although I am a summer person, Christmas is my favorite time of year. I absolutely love the feeling as the season approaches. I get nostalgic thinking about my childhood and when my son was young. I feel more love for everyone and everything. I think my heart actually glows.

I think everyone should have the spirit of christmas. Wouldn't that be amazing?! I do try to keep my Christmas spirit alive all year long.

I want to present the Spirit of Christmas to:

More Honors? How Overwhelming...

In my experiences with the highs and lows of life, I feel this year has been tremendous. I found my faith has deepened. My heart has grown larger and allowed so many people to tattoo themselves within. My understanding of others has increased and wanting to give and help others has reached a new high. I am developing more as a person and I can only thank the good and bad experiences, the wonderful and not so generous people to help shape who I am becoming.

I am grateful that I have become part of the mybloglog community and been allowed the opportunity to share a bit of each person who reside there. I am learning through the eyes of others, feel the generous spirit of people that have chosen to honor me with awards and have come across people that openly share their disabilities, faults, insecurities, hopes, humor, dreams, inspiration, motivation, knowledge and success. I believe we are all successful and have special qualities within us. Sometimes we need to tap into ourselves deeper to realize this, but it is there.

I have found friendship, support and much inspiration and motivation from our community. With each award received I feel (as I steal Zubli's words) much blogging enthusiasm, excitement, and enjoyment.

I have been honored yet again from fabulous people I have met and I thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart.

Back When I Was Engaged...

I remember the difficult time finding the right wedding invitations, thank you cards and the perfect favors. I had to get in the car and travel from store to store to compare prices and find my favorite invite. This was so time consuming and I couldn't make the decision without my then finance. Getting him to go with me to one store was hard enough, but several was a struggle. He just didn't understand why I needed to go to every store to seek out the perfect invitation or favor.

My how things have changed ! Enter advanced technology and the internet. My younger cousin is planning her wedding. She's got everything under control and showed me how easily she accompished this. She visited one site on the internet. One! Wedding Needs boasts about having all your weddings needs in one place. They aren't kidding.

My cousin not only picked out her wedding invitations, but her thank you cards were free. She also picked out her favors and the bridal party gifts.

What amazed me was she didn't have to travel back to a store to review and approve her wedding invitations. She was able to do that online. She'll receive her order in about 48 hours. I remember waiting about two weeks.

I think her finance is lucky. He didn't get dragged around from store to store for the various items needed to plan his wedding.

What are some of your memories when you planned your wedding? Did your finance mind the time it took to make all the decisions, select the invites, the gifts etc...?

Honored Again !! Twice...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

When receiving a gift it makes one feel special. You feel that warm feeling inside knowing this person was thinking of you.

When a gift is given from the heart, truly from the heart, you know thought went into this gift and was especially for you...it makes it even more special.

When the presenter is giving without expecting something in return, it brings on a new meaning. Have you ever noticed the person who gives the most are usually the happiest?

People who give unconditionaly, open their heart.

Santa at Santa's Community Blog said, "This award is for who you are. It is given from me... to you from my heart. I can't be any more personal than that"

I know this award was given from the heart and I thank you.

Having a Bad Day? Your Friends Will Pull You Thru

Have you ever had one of the days...the kind you just seem out of sorts. You wake up with worry on your mind, you ran late for work and along the way, get stuck in traffic. You finally arrive at work to find the phone already ringing, you spill your tea (or coffee) Then to top it off, your hormones take over and you feel bloated to the hilt...geez... it seems the whole day will be off kilter.

I so had one of those days on Monday. The mood was gloomy and I was quiet. Since I wasn't my usual chatty, smiley self, everyone in the office noticed and asked "what's wrong?" I have to admit, it felt good to have many people asking if everything was okay, but...the more I tried pushing the nagging negative thoughts away and switch gears, someone would ask and I'd take a step backwards.

BUT, it all changed when I arrived home to find a message from Marzie.

I simple message only saying she had something for me. Considering the day I had, I didn't know what to expect.
Well, let me tell you... when I saw how she thought of me, it brought my hormonal self into a misty eyed, smiley person once again. That's it...not the people at work asking what's wrong... a simple award for being nice.

An Internet friend, someone I haven't physically met. I just mentioned the power of Internet friends in my prior post.

Just when you lest expect something good, it shows up. Marzie, this couldn't have come at a better time and I thank you so much.
I wasn't able to show my appreciation on this blog on Monday because a more pressing post needed to be published. I figured I'd wait until Tuesday night to express my gratitude to Marzie and give out my own awards.

Come Tuesday, I received another surprise. My dear Zubli presented the same award to me. Lo and behold, an Internet friend who has been with me since day one. Someone I ran to first when I received sad news. I knew his empowering attitude would help me through the night. His words and support did help.

All that comes to mind at this very moment is: My Cup Runnth Over !

According to the originator of the Nice Matters award it is intended for

“those that are just nice people, good blog friends, and those that inspire good feelings and inspiration! Those that care about others, that are there to lend support, or those that are just a positive influence in our blogging world!”
